SWITCH

Summary:

The SWITCH project proposed to focus on the most promising decarbonizing technology for the maritime transport industry: wind propulsion. But despite its clear advantage of being widely and freely available at sea, wind is also highly variable, and the current ship designs, regulations and crews are not ready yet for its utilization at its full potential. Therefore, SWITCH gathered major research institutes, universities, ship designers, industrial companies, and a class society to support five technology providers of wind propulsion and another renewable.

Result:

Even if the proposal was not awarded, all consortium members fully appreciated the process of blueOASIS and acknowledged that it led to constructive discussions for future work, within the scope of the EU grant or not. “Fantastic work, it has been the best coordinated application I have experienced!”
