Coastal Wave Modelling in the World Surfing Reserve of Ericeira

blueOASIS and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) are proud to announce the kick-off of the project “Coastal wave modelling in the World Surfing Reserve of Ericeira“, funded by the Fund of Bilateral Relations of EEA Grants Portugal!

REEF3D is an open-source state-of-the-art CFD tool developed by NTNU to model coastal waves. It’s application to the Ericeira case is intended to bring better and more readily available insights on coastal dynamics in that region, to be used at a decision making level by local authorities and stakeholders, in preservation activities of coastal structures and assets – including waves!

Knowing more about the needs from the community is really important to us, in order to help us focus the research and the results produced. That’s why we’ve already partnered up with Câmara Municipal de Mafra, Junta de Freguesia da Ericeira and Ericeira Surf Clube.
