blueOASIS is now partner of Tecplot, Inc. and will be using Tecplot 360 software for all our Ocean Sustainability cool visualisations.

At blueOASIS, Tecplot 360 is an essential tool for Making the World Green and the Oceans Blue. Either in the CFD simulation of offshore energy harvesting devices (wind, wave and current) and their impact on the maritime life; or other projects such as:

  • Analyzing naval vessels and alternative ship propulsion systems
  • Investigating ocean cleaning devices
  • Studying and optimizing offshore floating platforms for multiple purposes

All our Renewables and Ocean Sustainability projects generate large amounts of raw data which require an efficient, yet powerful tool to generate comprehensive, easy interpretable and fine-looking results. Our tool of choice is Tecplot 360.

Atlantic Azores – Making Azores the Atlantic Ocean Sustainability Hub

A new Azorean consortium is born at the beginning of 2022.

Bringing together three Portuguese companies (Vera Navis | Ship Design, blueOASIS, Oceanic Motion) Atlantic Azores – Blue Economy Innovation, A.C.E. aims to support the sustainable development of the Azores region and catalyse it as a strategic Atlantic Sustainability Hub.

Atlantic Azores – Blue Economy Innovation, A.C.E. can assist all sorts of strategic studies, product development, research, technical design and analysis projects towards sustainability efforts in the areas of Ship Design, Aquaculture, Renewable Energy, Decarbonization of Harbours, Decarbonization of Shipping (emissions, fuels, operations), Vessels local repairing, Transshipment, Digital Twinning, Environmental Impacts and Acoustics.

The team is composed of different experts such as Naval Architects, Aerospace Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and Biologists with a large experience in Ship Design and maritime infrastructures, Renewables, Environment and Industry 4.0 and Food Sustainability.

Atlantic Azores works with a solid national and international network.

atNorth partners with ocean sustainability consultancy blueOASIS

blueOASIS has partnered with atNorth to establish a sustainable HPC and AI cluster in Iceland that can handle its big data needs.

The ocean sustainability consultancy services of Portuguese start-up blueOASIS are contributing to making the world’s waters a more environmentally friendly place. Its key areas of focus include, among others, decarbonization of ships and alternative fuels, underwater noise pollution that negatively impacts fauna, and maritime renewable energies.

atNorth partners with Blue Oasis to deliver HPC and IaaS.

atNorth has partnered with blueOASIS to deliver its HPC and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) solution, HPCFLOW. This reliable and flexible HPC resource will give blueOASIS the capacity to handle big data on a significant scale and to run the intensive calculations that form the foundation of much of its work.

blueOASIS will be at preCICE workshop


The 3rd preCICE Workshop will be held virtually at the University of Stuttgart, on February 21-24, 2022. The workshop is a coming together of the preCICE community to share ideas, experiences and knowledge about using preCICE, and to learn from others in the process. More info here.

preCICE is an open-source coupling library for partitioned multi-physics simulations, including, but not restricted to fluid-structure interaction and conjugate heat transfer simulations. Partitioned means that preCICE couples existing programs/solvers capable of simulating a subpart of the complete physics involved in a simulation. This allows for the high flexibility that is needed to keep a decent time-to-solution for complex multi-physics scenarios. The software offers convenient methods for transient equation coupling, communication, and data mapping.

blueOASIS will be using preCICE to perform multi-physics simulations of renewable energy devices, both using medium and high-fidelity approaches. Keep tuned.

blueOASIS brand registered

blueOASIS brand has been registered. While the formal  company name is Blue Ocean Sustainable Solutions Lda, our brand has been registered within the Portuguese authorities and therefore it may now be denoted as blueOASIS® .

Erica Cruz joins blueOASIS


Erica Cruz, one of the most renowned experts in underwater acoustics in Portugal, has joined blueOASIS as of 1st of December 2021.

She has a MSc in Marine Ecology, with specialization in underwater noise impacts on marine life, and has worked 9 years in the field. Erica has been active in several flagship projects such as WaveRoller Peniche, WindFloat 1 and WindFloat Atlantic. She promoted and coordinated the first portuguese joint initiative for the implementation of Marine Strategy Framework, the jUMP project. More recently, she was the project manager of SOUNDS, which culminated in a EMSA-report on the status of continuous underwater noise from shipping.

At blueOASIS we count on her to coordinate all environmental and underwater acoustics work. Welcome Erica!

João Sousa is in the ranking of the most cited scientists worldwide

Stanford University recently released an update of the World’s Top 2% Scientists list, which includes more than 100,000 researchers. 124 Técnico researchers were included in the ranking of the world’s most-cited researchers, and our external collaborator João Sousa is one of them.
